Smorgasburg to Launch 32K-SF Seafood Concept on Governors Island

by Mark Hallum - Comercial Observer

Six Coasts has signed a 10-year lease with the Trust for Governors Island to operate a spectacular 32,000-square-foot restaurant in a strategic waterfront location. This new destination, developed by the experienced Smorgasburg team, will open in May 2026 at the former Island Oyster site, establishing itself as a key piece in the expansion of the island's commercial and service offerings.

The project led by Smorgasburg will not only focus on coastal-inspired gastronomy but will also integrate sustainability and culture on Governors Island. Featuring an all-electric infrastructure and programming that includes live music events, Six Coasts is designed to be an economic and recreational driver, leveraging its privileged position facing the New York Harbor to attract thousands of visitors each season.
